Besides being a recognised broker in Manhattan, Stan Ponte is the founder of Our Trusted Network. It all began when he joined Sotheby’s International Realty in 2009 and a colleague from his old company reached out to him to welcome him. He suggested to consider creating a referral group of agents focused in the New York Tri-State Area. After twelve years of growth and expansion into markets all over the world, and a significant track record of successful referrals, it only has been a success.
We wanted to know more about Stan and had the pleasure to make a interview with him.
How did real estate appear on your career path? Did you always know you wanted to be a realtor?
I came to New York City to study to be an actor at the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University. After nearly a decade of trying to “break-in” to the film and stage business, I decided to make the move into the real estate industry. Fortunately, I am still able to be a part of the theater scene in New York City and get to enjoy the best of both worlds!
For how long are you connected to Sotheby’s International Realty? Why did you decide to be involved in the brand?
I joined Sotheby’s International Realty in 2009 after nearly a decade at another local boutique firm in New York City. I believe in the quality of the brokerage offered and in the ethos of teamwork that extends to my colleagues in every major city in the world. We are where our clients are and I am able to meet their needs anywhere across the globe!
Tell us a bit about “Our trusted network”. How did you come up with the idea, and how is it going so far?
Since I joined the firm I have partnered with individual agents in the markets that feed New York City and during the Covid Pandemic I realized that my clients were beginning to search for properties in multiple cities all over the world. I created a public facing web platform called Ourtrustednetwork.com to allow my clients and all of my colleagues clients to meet my trusted network of agents anywhere in the world at their convenience online. The result has been a marked increase in referral business across all of our markets!
How is now the market in New York? What kind of properties do the buyers seek these days?
The market I NYC is currently very active with all cash buyers who are looking to leverage their buying power as mortgage rate increases have paused some buyers who are seeking financing. With a great deal of new construction in NYC many buyers are focusing on the character and irreplaceability of our historic district neighborhoods and their pre-war charm and intimacy.
What factors have mainly influenced the last market fluctuations?
The Covid Pandemic completely paused our market and it was immediately followed by very strong activity brought up by pent up demand. Today we are returning to a more normalized market pace.
What price range are you working with and for how long are the properties usually on the market?
We follow our clients needs whether that is a starter apartment for $1,000,000 or a large penthouse or townhouse up to $50,000,000. What is most Important is that we deliver the best in class!
What do you think about Spain as a second residence destination?
Spain is one of the most beautiful, diverse and welcoming countries in the world. I have personally fallen in love with the artists in Madrid, the fashionistas in Barcelona and the music revelers in Ibiza!
What is your current most impressive listing that you would like to share with us?
The Woolworth Tower Residences has been one of the most noted conversions of a pre-war tower in the history of our city. I proudly oversaw the sale of 30 homes there and am currently marketing the last two properties there, The Pinnacle Penthouse and the 49th Floor with an asking price of $59,000,000
